Travel to see the Polish Renaissance

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

You can find discount airfare to travel to Poland and observe the Polish Renaissance. Historically, Poles have fought as violently for their architecture as for their freedoms. Poland’s cities, palaces, and castles—smoldering ruins at the end of World War II—are now achievements of resurrection that rank among Europe’s most magnificent.

The Polish language, spread across a giant area, has almost no dialects—something that is unique in Europe, where even different neighborhoods in the same city can have vastly different dialects. Poland’s population is almost entirely Polish and Catholic, although historically Poland was one of Europe’s most diverse and tolerant nations.

Explosive eruptions shook two huge volcanos in Central and South America on Friday, making thousands of people flee their homes and interrupting air traffic as ash drifted over major cities.

Guatemala’s Pacaya volcano began erupting lava and rocks Thursday afternoon, covering the country’s capital with ash and forcing the international airport to close. A television reporter was killed by a shower of burning rocks when he got too close to the volcano, about 15 miles (25 kilometers) south of Guatemala City.

Strong explosions also rocked Ecuador’s Tungurahua volcano, prompting evacuations of hundreds of people from nearby villages.
