The strike by pilots and flight attendants intensifies and causes Air France to cancel half of its long-haul flights today. The disruptions to flights yesterday were fairly limited and the airline was able to fly 85% f its long-haul flights and 75% of it short- and medium-haul flights. Officials at Charles de Gaul International Airport said that airlines only canceled 10% of their scheduled flights.
There were also last-minute cancelations to Air France flights to Naples, Hamburg, Istanbul, Geneva, and Rio. Air France expects to operate more than half of their long-haul flights on February 7, but they are urging passengers to try to postpone their travel plans until after the four-day strike is over. The strike runs from February 6 to 9 and includes the pilots, flight attendants, and ground crew, who are striking in protest to a new draft law that, if passed, will require them to give 48 hours notice prior to striking.
