All American Airlines flights operating out of Philadelphia International Airport on Monday morning have been cancelled due to power problems. On Sunday, the Philadelphia area experienced heavy rains that not only set a record for one-say rainfall in the city, but also knocked out a power substation. According to the National Weather Service, 8.02 inches of rain fell in Philadelphia on Sunday, breaking the previous record of 6.63 inches.
Flights were delayed on Sunday as flash flooding was a problem and rain caused traffic problems throughout the city. Flights are cancelled until at least noon on Monday and passengers are tweeting that security lines a wrapped around the building. Fortunately drier weather is coming with the beginning of the week.
