Delta Airlines is once again connecting residents of Nova Scotia with the Big Apple. Flights from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to New York’s LaGuardia Airport are set to launch and will operate twice daily. Jerry Staples, Halifax International Airport Authority’s vice-president of marketing and business development, said that Halifax has become an important feed-in for LaGuardia. Since LaGuardia is centrally-located, it is of particular interest for business and leisure travellers.
The new Halifax-LaGuardia route is part of Delta’s new route expansion to LaGuardia, the biggest one they have had in over 40 years. The expansion has seen the addition of 100 new flights and 26 new destinations at LaGuardia. Delta had pulled its flights from Halifax only last fall, as they merged with Northwest Airlines and focused on corporate restructuring, and then started temporary service in April. The new Delta flights are the only ones from Halifax to New York.
