Early Monday saw all inbound and outbound flights at London’s Gatwick Airport suspended because a plane has to make an emergency landing at the airport. Virgin Airlines A-380, which was on its way to Orlando, Florida, had to land and be evacuated when smoke was noticed in the cabin. Reports say that several passengers were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation, but no one was seriously injured.
Gatwick Airport officials would not give any details, but would only say that there were temporary delays to arriving and departing flights and that these delays were cause by technical problems experience by an aircraft. It has been confirmed that at least one Air Transat flight arriving from Toronto was delayed due to the issues with the Virgin Airlines flight.
