An ongoing pilots’ strike has cause the cancellation of another 12 flights for Kingfisher Airlines. The striking pilots are those who fly the short-haul ATR aircraft and who are striking in protest of unpaid salaries. Airline officials have said that there have been nine flights from Bangalore that have been cancelled and at least three flights from Delhi have also been cancelled. A number of pilots failed to report for their shifts.
Sanjay Aggarwal, CEO of Kingfisher, made an attempt yesterday to convince the pilots to return to work, assuring them that payment processing would begin on Friday morning, but the pilots still refused to return to their jobs. The pilots have said they will wait and see what Friday brings before deciding whether to return to work. Sources at the airline has said that flights on their Kingfisher’s Airbus A-320 have not been affected.
