Qatar Airways has now launched flights to its second destination in Iraq with the start of flights to Baghdad. The airline is now operating four nonstop flights per week to the capital city and this move has come just a scant two weeks after launching flights to its first destination in Iraq, to the northern city of Erbil. In addition, on July 5 Qatar Airways will launch a weekly freight service to Erbil, which will allow for more cargo to be shipped into the country.
The passenger flights to Erbil and Baghdad are both being operated on an Airbus A320 and they have two classes, 12 Business Class seats and 132 Economy Class seats. Qatar Airways Senior Vice-President GCC, Levant, Iran, Iraq and Indian Sub continent Fathi Al Shehab took part in the inaugural flight to Baghdad, which was given the traditional water canon salute and a ceremony upon its arrival. With Baghdad on the flight schedule, Qatar now serves 116 destinations worldwide.
