A record snowfall has hit Moscow, one that has already dumped 12 cm of snow on the region and will bring more as the storm rages through until Friday. The city hall in the Russian capital says they have not experienced a snowfall as big as this in 50 years and according to the weather forecast service, so far it has brought a third of the total typical snowfall for November in just 24 hours.
The storm is wreaking havoc on the roads and on flights coming into and going out of the area. Traffic is backed up throughout the capital and roughly 70 flights at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport, the city’s largest, were disrupted last night. However, so far the city’s three airports have been functioning normally throughout Thursday.
