The birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama is celebrated in fine style in Dharamsala on the 6 July. The site of the Tibetan government in exile stages special temple services, musical performances, feasts and seminars throughout the day.
The 14th Dalai Lama, reincarnation of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, spiritual leader of Tibetan Budhhism and former political head of Tibet, was exiled to India after the "liberation" of Tibet in 1950.
